Extra police will be on the roads over the Easter weekend and Anzac Day as part of operations Tortoise and Go Slow.
Operation Tortoise will begin at midnight tonight and run through to Monday night.
Double demerits will also be in place over the Easter weekend.
Operation Go Slow will occur over Anzac weekend, beginning on Friday, April 25 and ending at midnight on Sunday 27.
The high profile patrols are a bid to lower the road toll for the holiday period.
“We’re targeting speed, fatigue, alcohol, and seatbelts,” Sergeant Blissett from Orange police said.
“[We want to] remind people to slow down and take regular breaks.”
This blitz comes after Orange residents returned some shocking results in a special operation conducted by Orange Traffic and Highway Patrol Command last weekend.
Eight people were caught driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol from 81 people tested in Operation 721.
These results serve as a reminder that those who are doing the wrong thing on the road will be caught.
