At around 2.20am 36-year-old Benjamin Thompson spoke to the group of around 10 men and women, who had congregated on a grassy area on the corner of Adina Crescent and Nyrang Road, about their noise levels, prompting several of them to allegedly attack him.
Mr Thompson suffered injuries to his face, torso and back, and was treated at the scene before being transported to Orange hospital for further treatment.
Canobolas Local Area Command duty officer Yonneka Hill said it was not known if any of the women were involved in the attack.
“We know that he complained about the noise and they retaliated,” acting Inspector Hill said.
“Police are concerned about a large group of people being involved in an incident like this and would appreciate any witnesses stepping forward.
“Investigations are ongoing at the scene and we’d like anyone who saw anything at that time to contact police immediately.”
Inspector Hill said people should contact police before intervening in potentially dangerous situations, particularly if it escalates.
