Between Wednesday, January 29 and Friday, January 31, eight separate fires were started in bushland on the side of the road in the areas of Ilford, Sofala and Wattle Flat.
Forensic examination has revealed each blaze was deliberately lit, police said in a statement.
The fires were all started on busy roads and police are hopeful someone in the community might have seen something that could help the investigation.
“We are determined to track down whoever is responsible for these incredibly reckless and dangerous acts"
Detective Inspector Luke Rankin from Chifley Local Area Command said deliberately lighting a fire is a very serious criminal offence.
“With much of NSW experiencing extreme hot conditions, a fire can quickly get out of control and lead to the loss of property and lives,” he said.
“We are determined to track down whoever is responsible for these incredibly reckless and dangerous acts.”
Luckily, the recent fires were all extinguished without any property damage.
