It’s alleged two young men walked out of the party and had an altercation on the roadway, with one man punching the other to the side of the head.
Occupants of the house where the party was being held at the eastern end of Honeyman Drive told the Central Western Daily the first they knew of the incident was when they heard someone scream just before midnight on Saturday.
“Most of the party was happening out the back so we didn’t see anything,” said one of the occupants who did not wish to be named.
Police allege Karl Sibley, 20, delivered a blow to the head of a 19-year-old man and the victim fell to the ground.
When paramedics arrived they found the victim unconscious with critical head injuries.
He was treated in the ambulance while being taken to Orange Hospital.
The NSW Ambulance helicopter was also called from Sydney.
The occupants of the house where the party was being held have been interviewed by police to try and piece together the circumstances leading up to the alleged assault.
Police say the victim was asked to leave the party and was followed outside by the accused when the assault occurred.
Sibley was arrested at a house in Cumnock at 4pm on Sunday and charged by police.
