In Orange Local Court yesterday Orcher was sentenced to jail after being convicted for four charges of driving while disqualified.
Orcher was silent during yesterday’s proceedings, leaving his solicitor Bob Lulham to put forward his case to Magistrate Terry Lucas.
“This is extremely difficult,” said Mr Lulham.
He told the court his client had made only superficial attempts to engage with rehabilitation and supervision services in the past, but would benefit from any ongoing close supervision by community corrections services.
Orcher was already on a bond for a previous offence of driving while disqualified.
“I don’t see how I can get around this Section 12 (bond),” Magistrate Terry Lucas told Mr Lulham.
Orcher pleaded guilty to the offences through his solicitor, who acknowledged his client had a history of driving disqualifications stretching back to 2008.
Mr Lucas said he had no alternative other than to impose a jail sentence.
Orcher was sentenced to 18 months jail with a non-parole period of nine months and was taken into custody by corrective services officers.
He will be eligible for parole on October 22.
The Magistrate also disqualified Orcher from driving for another two years, meaning he cannot drive for 13 years.
