Temperatures are predicted to rise to only 5 degrees today, 5.7 degrees below the long-term average August maximum.
Last night was predicted to drop to minus 1, which is 1.7 degrees below the long-term minimum for the month.
Weatherzone meteorologist Rob Sharpe said this might be the last cold front to pass over the region this season.
“There might be a light dusting of snow in the morning,” he said.
“It’s the last of the really significant cold weather for winter.”
Mr Sharpe said cold weather was predicted to continue with a top of 8 degrees predicted each day from tomorrow until Friday.
“After that it will be a beautiful, mostly sunny weekend,” he said.
Saturday is predicted to warm slightly to 10 degrees, with 15 the top for Sunday.
