Whistling to see if a dog is on the premises, throwing tennis balls on the verandah to trigger security lights and putting glow sticks near letter boxes to mark the house as a possible target at night are just a few of the ploys being used around Orange by opportunistic thieves who are targeting houses for break and enters.
Ron Bowden whose wife Barbara was surprised by a would-be thief who walked through the couple's back door on Tuesday afternoon, says the couple is reviewing their security and taking extra precautions.
