It is Orange City’s 45th season since Booms and Waratahs merged in 1967 to create the longstanding club.
Orange City players will wear special shirts for tonight’s match which will be auctioned off as part of the club’s fundraiser later in the season.
Matt Findlay will lead the young Orange City team and said the special shirts were something different.
“It’s a good idea to pay respect to the two clubs which formed Orange City,” Findlay said.
“It should be a bit more incentive to win, especially if we get some of the old players watching.”
Orange City has named a youthful team for tonight’s match and Findlay is confident it will be a competitive one.
“We have a lot of guys who like to score quickly. The way a lot of our guys bat suits this game better than two-day matches,” Findlay explained.
“Even bowling-wise, we should go well. Most of the guys are fit so we should be good in the field.”
Findlay is sixth on the Orange District Cricket Association first grade batting aggregate with 81 runs from two matches.
Shaun Grenfell is seventh with 80 runs from three matches.
Cavaliers will pose a good challenge for City in their first Twenty20 outing of the season.
Findlay said players like Western Zone fast bowler Liam Gough as well as all-rounders Richie Venner and Stuart Middleton all had the ability to single-handedly win the game.
Middleton is third on the ODCA batting aggregate with 95 runs from two games.
Chris Martin is another one to watch making 101 in two matches.
After tonight’s match, the Orange City players will have a chance to purchase their shirts.
The shirts that remain will be auctioned off at the club’s fundraiser in February.
Spectators can watch two games at Wade Park this evening.
Orange City and Kinross will play an under 16s Twenty20 curtain-raiser from 4pm.
The Royal Hotel Cup match starts at 6.30pm.
A barbecue and drinks will be available.
