There were some predictable results and some upsets in the quarter-finals of the club championship last Sunday.
In A grade Mark Hennessy defeated John Howarth 3 and 2, Bruce Isbester defeated Norm Foley in a close match that went to the 19th hole, junior Michael Davis played well to defeat Warwick McLauchlan 3 and 2 and Michael Burke got up over Ben Chippendale 3 and 1.

Some enthralling matches in C grade saw Ian Williams roll Chris Wood 6 and 5, veteran Harry Murphy defeated Karl Fruhstuck 4 and 3, Tony Leathem was pushed al the way by veteran Ashley Platts but came out on top 2 and 1, and another tough encounter saw Rodney Madden defeat Barry Bourke on the 19th hole.
The play-offs continue this Sunday morning with the semi-finals. Match referees will be in place and spectators are welcome with the first match teeing off at 8:30am.
Saturday saw a reduced field brave the pouring rain on a wet course in a three person ambrose. Red hot scores are the norm in ambroses and this occasion was no exception as the team of Dennis Speechley, Tony Wilson and Ben Chippendale blitzed the rest of the field with a 54 nett.
Close behind was the team of Michael Burke, Nick Scopel and Matt Michaelides with a 57 nett.
Scratch was a close affair with the team of Dean Parker-Smith, John Grevink and Joe Faul coming out on top with 67 on a count back.
The greens were proving hard to hit with the only nearest the pin to be won, being the B grade (17- 24) on the 4th by John Grevink. Michael Burke hit one of his booming drives up the third fairway to take the A grade long drive, Dave Wooding hit a big drive up the 17th to win B grade and junior Robert Marsh was in good driving form taking out the C grade long drive on the 12th.
Unfortunately the ladies did not play due to the weather causing a lack of numbers.
