Jessica, who is an apprentice with Orange City Council's parks and gardens department, was congratulated yesterday by manager Allen Dwyer.
"We have assured Jessica that when she completes her apprenticeship we look forward to keeping her on here as she can continue to make a valuable contribution," Mr Dwyer said.
"It was a real surprise being nominated for this award," Jessica said.
Kate Corkery recently moved to Canberra where she is studying for a degree in commerce and law at the University of Canberra.
She received recognition for her traineeship in business services undertaken at the University of Sydney's Orange Campus.
"The traineeship was great because I was able to learn while getting experience on the practical aspects of business that can't be found in text books," Kate said.
Both Kate and Jessica attended the prestigious award ceremony held at Darling Harbour recently.
They were nominated by Central West Group Apprentices.
The group's manager, Adam Young, said the organisation was extremely proud of both women.
"They are both outstanding and epitomise the talent of young people in apprenticeships and traineeships," he said.
