Windera Estate, located 10km north-east of Orange on the Molong Road in Cabonne shire, will eventually contain 57 residential lots to be released over four stages.
Cabonne Mayor John Farr opened the first stage of development, 14 lots ranging from 2ha to 5.9ha.
Developer Geoff Evers said demand for blocks offering a country lifestyle was being fuelled by city pressures, new wineries and interest in the new ‘Southern Highlands image’ of the region.
Title to the land was first granted in 1839, when Thomas Kite purchased 1193 acres from the Crown.
The development was approved by Cabonne Shire Council earlier this year.
