A crime scene has been established at the site of the horrific head-on crash north in the Central West on Saturday.
The crash, between a white Mazda SUV and a white Nissan ute, took place on Saturday afternoon, about 22kms north of Bathurst.
An 11-year-old girl and three-year-old boy were taken to The Children's Hospital at Westmead for further treatment. The driver of the SUV, a 28-year-old woman, was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the ute, a 40 year-old man, was taken to Orange Hospital in a serious stable condition, his passenger, a two-year-old boy was not injured.
Police are urging anyone with information or dash cam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Four people have been taken to hospital following a head-on crash that took place about six kilometres north of Eglinton on Saturday afternoon.
A woman in her 20s was flown by helicopter to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition with head, chest and leg injuries, while a girl under 12 has been taken to Westmead Children's Hospital with abdominal injuries.
A man in his 40s was taken road ambulance to Orange Health Service with leg injuries, along with an infant boy, who was taken by road to Orange with minor injuries.
The fifth patient, an infant boy, had no injuries and did not require to be transported to hospital.
Multiple emergency service crews were called to Duramana Road near Whalans Lane in Eglinton around 3pm following a head-on collision on February 24, 2024.
Police said the crash was between a Mazda CX9 and a Nissan Navara.
The police crash investigation unit was examining the area.

Five people are being assessed for multiple injuries following a head-on crash that took place just north of Bathurst on Saturday afternoon.
Multiple emergency service crews were called to Duramana Road in Eglinton near Whalans Lane about 3pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024 following reports of a head-on collision.
ACM understands a woman in her 20s is being treated for chest, arm and leg injuries, and a girl under 12 is being treated for neck, chest and hip injuries.
Meanwhile, two infant boys and a man in his 40s are being assessed for injuries by paramedics, at the time of publication.
A spokesperson for NSW Police said two rescue helicopters are being flown to the scene.
