Four bishops were at the service conducted by parish priest Reverend Canon Frank Hetherington.
Two eulogies were delivered by Archdeacon Kempson’s sons Simon and Michael, one reflecting on his life in the clergy, and the other a more personal reflection.
Archdeacon Kempson was an extremely popular Anglican priest during his time in Orange from 1973 to 1983 and again from 1987 to 1990.
The Anglican Bishop of Adelaide Jeffrey Driver came all the way from Adelaide to be present at the funeral.
Archdeacon Kempson died at Orange Base Hospital on September 19 and was living in Orange with his wife Helen at the time of his death.
A private family cremation followed yesterday’s service.
