Summer Hill Creekcare president Dr Cilla Kinross said the group has an arrangement with CSU to monitor the wildlife in the university's biodiversity zones and this will be the fifth bird survey.
Dr Kinross will lead the survey at seven sites across two days and said anyone could join in.
"One of the agreements made was that we would monitor this four times a year for birds," she said.
"I enjoy having people along and introducing them to the birds."
Summer Hill Creekcare is also hoping to get new members and fresh ideas when it hosts its AGM and dinner at 7pm at 870 Ophir Road, Summer Hill, on Wednesday.
Dr Kinross said people did not need to live in the catchment to be a member.
"It's a lovely, friendly group that gets stuff done for the Summer Hill Creek catchment," she said.
Dr Kinross said the members planted 700 trees as part of its regeneration project in September and October last year and they watered the trees by hand throughout the summer.
The AGM will be followed by a committee meeting to discuss the ongoing Fish Habitat Action grant from the Department of Primary Industries and plan the year's activities.
The bird count is part of a long-term project and will take place from 8am until about 9.30am each day, weather permitting.
Anyone who wants to be involved in the bird count or to attend the AGM and dinner should register with Dr Kinross.
For more information, registration or RSVP for the dinner, contact ckinross@csu.edu.au, or 6365 7651.
