The BoM on Thursday said snow was likely to fall down to 700 metres in the Central West, which means Orange (elevation 863 metres) is a good chance to have a thick settling on the ground.
Snow is also predicted to fall near Bathurst, Blayney, Lithgow and Oberon.
There’s every chance Cabonne Council will close access to the summit of Mount Canobolas as a safety precaution before Sunday’s expected snow.
According to www.weatherzone.com.au, the temperature in Orange on Sunday will range between -1 degrees and 6 degrees.
The weekend looks set to kick-start a particularly cold spell for the city, with minimums of -4 degrees (Monday), -3 degrees (Tuesday and Wednesday), and -2 degrees (Thursday) forecast to follow.
