The Bureau of Meteorology is tipping the mercury to rise to 31 degrees Celsius on Saturday and go even higher on Sunday with a forecast top of 32.
That would come within striking distance of Orange’s hottest March day on record – 32.9 degrees back in 1998.
And nights aren’t expected to bring much relief from the sweltering conditions with the forecast minimum on Sunday almost double the long-term average.
Orange’s long-term average minimum for March is 9.8 degrees but the temperature is not expected to drop below 17 overnight on Saturday.
No rain is predicted for the next week.
