Principal Michelle Barrett said the school would be discussing domestic violence at age-appropriate levels across all grades at the school.
She said the school would be focusing on four pillars to change attitudes to get students to respect each other, themselves, their environment and learning.
“Primary school sessions have introduced the concept to talk about respectful relationships and chat about domestic violence,” Mrs Barrett said.
For higher year levels, they’ve been talking about domestic violence and the damage it can cause.
“Initially students were surprised when they found out one woman dies a week from domestic violence … one student asked if that was around the world instead of just Australia,” Mrs Barrett said.
“We have to be careful about it, but it’s resonated with students.
“They’ve said it’s not good enough and quite a few girls have said this needs to change.”
