Although far from eloquent, Bart Simpson hit the nail of the head when he said Seymour Skinner was “like some sort of non-giving up, school guy”, such was the principal’s tenacity in attempting to catch the rapscallion skipping school.

Well, replace school with run-scoring and guy with girl, and it’s a perfect description of Western Zone skipper Abbie Uhr too.
After pummeling 83 not out in Monday’s round one victory over Penrith, Uhr, who averaged 37 in last summer’s Western NSW Under-15 Girls’ Carnival with a highest score of 103, went big again in Tuesday’s second game.
Against Brisbane North, Uhr finished 98 not out from 114 balls as her side piled on 8-171, before skittling the Queenslanders for 103 to secure a second straight win.
It was a massive improvement on Brisbane North’s behalf, after the side was bowled out for just 32 on day one.
Sofi Maddox was superb for the Queenslanders, she came in at 6-32 and went on to top score with 35 from 62 balls.
Gordon also faced Penrith on Tuesday, while ACT took on Riverina.
Dubbo, Parramatta and Blacktown all secured their second consecutive victories on Tuesday’s second day of the boys’ carnival, firmly establishing themselves as 2017-18 title contenders.
Although not quite as polished a performance as Monday’s, Dubbo knocked off Western Sydney in reasonably comfortable fashion at Jack Brabham 4.
The Macquarie Valley-based side was restricted to 141 thanks to excellent showings from Fletcher Butterfield (4-15) and Smit Patel (3-26).
But, the Stars’ batsmen couldn’t back up the effort with the ball. Western Sydney managed just 83 in reply.
Abishek Mohanaraj and Aiden Caine led Parramatta to its victory over Wagga Wagga, both notching half-tons.
The former top-scored with 61 from 83 balls while the latter made 55 from 121, they combined in a 111-run second wicket stand to inspire their side to 7-208.
Harrison Quinn (21) and Hiriharan Nanthanpoopan (21) both chipped in with handy starts as well.
Cooper Pavitt was Wagga’s best with the ball, taking 4-41.
Sam Smith (53) and Jack Mattingly (22) started Wagga’s chase well, adding 89 for the first wicket, but after that the run rate slowed, thanks to tight bowling from the likes of Nicholas Highfield (2-13) and Matt Hurst (2-26).
Wagga continued fighting but only made it to 6-145 in reply, while Blacktown secured a win over Shoalhaven.
Wakatipu High School picked up its first win of the carnival, over Orange’s invitational XI.
Seth Mawhinney picked up 4-18 as the Kiwis rolled Orange, coming off a huge win on day one, for just 107.
It wasn’t an easy chase for Wakatipu as the side slipping to 3-36 and then 6-71, but Lachlan Marshall (40 not out) made sure of the win.
In Tuesday’s other boys’ games ACT faced Manly-Warringah and Mitchell played St George.
Wednesday’s final preliminary rounds kick-off at 10am on Wednesday, before Thursday’s play-off games.
