The monument was unveiled by the poet’s widow, Alice, before 400 people including his daughters and granddaughters in 1947.
Organiser Elizabeth Griffin invited people to bring their own nibbles and drink to help celebrate the anniversary from 6pm.
She is seeking to have the park upgraded into a major tourist attraction.
