Last season The Lagoon’s Steve Turnbull enjoyed more success at Blayney than any other trainer and he’s on track to do the same in 2017-18.

On Sunday, in Blayney’s first meeting, Turnbull’s Radiant Lodge team picked up three wins, narrowly missed another with a half-neck second, and added a third on top of that.

Two of his wins – Rainbow On Fire ($2.40) and The Rath ($3.70) –  came in heats of the C0/C1 series to book themselves a spot in the final, which will be staged at Blayney’s Carnival of Cups meeting on November 19.

Mitch Turnbull was in the gig for both 2,000-metre heat wins, seven-year-old mare The Rath posting an all the way win from barrier one while Rainbow On Fire sat in the trail early before prevailing by a neck over Taihape Sunset.

Blayney’s Carnival of Cups meeting on Sunday will feature the Billy Soo Memorial Blayney Cup as well as a heat of both the Menangle Where Horses Fly Series and Menangle Country Series.
