However, it seems we have heard the last of the promised jobs as a result of the expansion of the airport.
A council press release in April, 2012 declared that the airport expansion “when operational will add 126 full-time positions to the regional economy in its first five years”.
In November, 2014 the mayor stood with State and Federal representatives and “estimated the airport upgrades will create more than 200 jobs and $177 million in investment to 2017”.
Remember that these projections were made well before the industrial rezoning was proposed; they are not connected.
I am amazed that the Orange Business Chamber is not asking where are these jobs and where is this investment money?
