More than 30 up-and-comers took to the court to press their claims at Saturday’s Western trial, the first of its kind in the area after Netball NSW established a set of regional trials this year in a bid to increase opportunities for players based outside metropolitan areas.
Orange was well-represented, with the likes of Sophie Brisbane, Emily Williams, Alice Maier and Siara Jawai all among the group which was put through their paces, starting with fitness drills in the morning before games in the afternoon.
Prior to the Western trial, Netball NSW also hosted a session in Armidale and another was scheduled in Canberra on Sunday.
Selectors are expected to announce the list of hopefuls have progressed to phase two early this week, it will be released on Netball NSW’s website.
