Wednesday’s fatal crash came less than two months after a woman died in a head-on collision between a car and a B-double on the Mitchell Highway between Bathurst and Orange.
The 49-year-old female driver of a silver sedan suffered critical injuries and died at the scene after the crash at Vittoria, about 20 kilometres west of Bathurst, on the Mitchell Highway at around 9am on August 8.
The driver of the B-double, a 43-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was transported via road ambulance to Orange Base Hospital.
Police said the B-double driver was lucky not to have sustained serious injury as his truck hit a number of trees and ended up off the road in a paddock as he tried to avoid the collision.
Just over a week after that fatal crash, a 30-year-old driver was transported to hospital after his truck rolled at Vittoria at 1pm on August 16. The driver managed to get out of the truck.
