A beauty salon hidden behind a red door was opened for the first time on Tuesday.
Manicures, hairdressers and even a foot-spa are on offer for residents.
Calare Aged Care’s general manager Cathy Winton said creating the beauty salon had taken three months.
She said the idea came from a former manager.
“She saw that women, whether they’re in care or not, like to have somewhere nice to have their nails done, have their feet pampered and have their hair done,” Ms Winton said.
The salon was built on a budget thanks to some donations from businesses, however the value for residents was immeasurable.
For one day a week a hairdresser will work out of the room.
It allows them to still feel they’re part of a community and able to attend something like this, like they would have done when they lived at home.

Ms Winton said there was a potential for TAFE students to have the chance to practise their skills in the salon.
