AS a country resident and long-time gold member of the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust, it is again with dismay that I find myself writing about the ridiculous scheduling of the time-honoured contest between South Sydney and St George.

The two most famous clubs in the competition, at the scene of some their most memorable clashes, and again country members are treated with disdain and contempt.
How is a person meant to attend a footy match at 6pm on a Friday?
Some foresight would see this match in future scheduled for a Saturday evening after a day's racing at Randwick and afford long-suffering country members an opportunity to enjoy both venues.
I had booked accommodation in Sydney for Saturday, August 5 in the expectation the game would be played on Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon and tie up with the Rosehill races.
I’ve been left unimpressed and distinctly let down, as are many of my rural mates.
Country people pay the same annual dues, pay for accommodation and queue for their seats like their city cousins, but attend the wonderful Trust venues far less.
The Trust and newly-appointed Members Advisory Group should hang their collective heads in shame.
Think of membership, not development. Lobby the NRL and broadcasters and stand up for people outside the city.
I would encourage you to get on the front foot with the NRL: they love heritage rounds and the history of the SCG.
Don't acquiesce to the TV networks and stand up for the membership. They deserve it.
Yours faithfully,
