It’s exactly why the Tigers’ referee ranks are in pretty decent shape in 2017.
With eight junior referees on the books – some clubs battle to get half that – the Tigers are covering Saturday’s home games comfortably.
And there’s plenty of quality too, as well as the club’s first junior female referee.
“Jorjia (Robinson) has been great this year as our first girl and the senior (referees) association has identified a bit of talent too, and they’re encouraging them to get involved on Sundays with the seniors, particularly Liam Anderson. It’s been great,” Greenhalgh said. “We look after them too, we pay a bit more than what’s recommended … you’ve got to have referees to have a game.”
