Red Nose Day supports research into sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), which is the cause of nine children’s deaths each day in Australia.
The children in Kite Street will get behind the fundraiser for its 29th year and are holding the Little Rockers Red Nose Disco from 11.30am on Friday, June 30.
It will be one of the largest discos on Friday morning, with Kite Street Goodstart Early Learning Centre hosting 70 children, plus children and families who don’t normally attend on the day.
“All the children will be coming dressed in red to support SIDS research, we’ll tune in to little rockers radio and have our disco,” assistant director Natasha Wright said.
“Parents are welcome to join from 11.30am for a gold coin donation.
“We support it every year with donations and dress ups for the day, but this is the first year we’ll have a disco.”
Ms Wright said a baby’s death could be traumatic on parents.
“It’s devastating to put your baby to sleep knowing everything’s alright and then discover that bub’s no longer with us,” she said.
“To have no reason makes it worse.”
Kite Street Goodstart’s Early Learning Centre will host Red Nose Day at 11.30am on Friday, June 30.
