He found a job on an orchard, later bought land and established what is now Thornbrook Orchard at Nashdale in the 1950s.
His granddaughter Paula Charnock met Orange Regional Museum staff to discuss the orchard’s history as a potential exhibit in the museum’s next show, Paddock to Plate: a history of food and wine in Orange and district.
The museum held its first public day on Tuesday to invite people with objects to display next year.
They will also be at Blayney Council on Wednesday and at the Cabonne Council in Molong on Thursday.
Museum manager Alison Russell said they were seeking objects related to food and wine production.
