For the Orange Show, Channel 7’s Better Homes and Gardens made their way over the Blue Mountains to feature the best of a country show and more.
An entire 90 minutes will be dedicated to the city.
“It’s a beautiful part of the world to showcase and I hope that people will feel really proud when they watch it go to air,” Better Homes and Gardens host Johanna Griggs said.
“It doesn’t matter where you are in Australia, you can appreciate it. I also think a lot of city viewers see it and think, ‘God I wish I lived there’.”
One of those segments will feature present Karen Martini cooking using ingredients she found at the Orange Region Farmers Markets.
Ms Martini, who also works as a judge for My Kitchen Rules as well as running a restaurant in St Kilda, said the Orange’s Farmers Markets didn’t disappoint.
“You can go to any farmer’s market in the world, and it gives you the sense of community,” she said.
“I look for what is in season, it will always taste better and always cost you a little less.”
Ms Martini said she only decided what she would cook after visiting the farmers markets and revealed few details ahead of the show’s broadcast.
“I didn’t want to preconceive what I was going to cook, I wanted to see what was available and I’m going to make a scrumptious, contemporary potato salad,” she said.
Where ever she went during her time at the market, she was found by adoring fans and aspiring chefs looking for tips.
Archie Bayden may only be six-years-old but is one of Ms Martini’s biggest fans.
“I watch the show every week on Friday night. I enjoy watching the show and I like trying her recipes,” he said.
Market president Kai Woltmann said having the popular television show visit helped boost the event.
Mr Woltmann said the market’s committee was made up of producers who aimed at creating an experience for customers, with live music and a variety of different stalls.
“Better Homes and Gardens is quite amazing for us, it attracts more people and customers, even when the show is on,” Mr Woltmann said.
“There will be a benefit down the tack when the show is broadcast.”
