The blue and golds shot out of the blocks early at the Yeoval Sportsground, scoring the game’s opening five pointer before drama hit the round five clash.
The Rams had a player given a red card after questioning a decision by the referee, Yeoval taking full advantage of the extra man, scoring their second try and booting a penalty goal to head into the sheds with a 15-0 lead.
But, the Rams weren't about to be outdone in the second half.
Producing the sort of rugby that’s catapulted the Blayney club to two consecutive Graincorp Cup premierships, the Rams opened their account thanks to Baz Hobby to make it 15-5.
A run of possession in Yeoval’s favour enabled the hosts to again extend their advantage out to 15 points, but late tries to Adam Hamilton and then Casey Wallace gave the Rams a sniff at victory.
It wasn’t to be, however, full-time being blown in the shadows of the Blayney comeback, resulting in the club’s first loss of the 2017 season.
Blayney was best served by Baz Hobby, player-coach Brock Syphers and lanky outside back Wallace, who scored a great five-pointer for the Rams.
The club is back at King George Oval on Saturday, hosting CSU Orange Aggies.
