Rugby league fandom is, first and foremost, about loyalty. When someone threatens their team, a supporter’s retribution can be swift and brutal.
The reaction of the Central Western Daily’s Nick McGrath to news of star fullback James Tedesco’s defection from his beloved Wests Tigers to the Sydney Roosters exemplifies this.
Within minutes of word breaking online, Nick had altered a previously-treasured profile photo of himself and Tedesco, crudely supplanting an image of Tigers stalwart Daniel Fitzhenry in Tedesco’s place.
Tedesco was unavailable for comment about the act.
