Orange City is second on the Orange District Cricket Association table heading into this weekend’s penultimate round, but because the Warriors have the bye in that final fortnight a win over Centrals is all the more crucial.

The Warriors are 12.83 points in front of the red and blacks in third and as such, Warriors skipper Craig Rogan says his troops now just how much they need to win if they’re to hold onto second spot.
“It’s our last round before the semi-finals, so we’re intent on making our time in the middle count,” he said.
“We’re aiming to keep the momentum going off the back of another strong win, but Centrals are always a tough opponent and I don’t expect this game to be any different, particularly when they’re fighting for a finals spot too.”
In fact, holding onto second spot isn’t the Warriors biggest worry.
A loss to Centrals could well spell the end of the greens’ season, depending on other results. However, working in their favour is the fact the red and blacks play Cavaliers in the final round.
The two latter sides are equal on points, in third and fourth respectively thanks to quotient.
In Saturday’s other game, the fourth-placed maroons head to Kinross Main Oval to take on the students in a make-or-break fixture for both sides.
Mathematically, Kinross can still make the play-offs series with back-to-back wins in the last two games.
Centrals and Cavaliers are just 6.76 points in front of the last-placed students, signalling a thrilling finish to the season in which all five teams are still alive.
Play in both games begins at 1pm.
