Pepe butters up the crowd in Blayney as Betty McKenzie honoured

Butter entrepreneur Pepe Saya was Blayney’s Australia Day ambassador for 2017 and was warmly welcomed by the crowd at Heritage Park.

Mr Saya presented Betty McKenzie with the Blayney Citizen of the Year award for her outstanding work within the community.

Mayor Scott Ferguson said that Mrs McKenzie has been a passionate, dedicated and tireless worker in many community groups, branches and associations.

“She is a much loved and valued member of the community who is held in high esteem,” he said.

Ryan Hopkins received the award for Young Citizen of the Year, while the volunteer of the year was shared by Randall Edwards from the Millthorpe Village Committee and Jim Sherlock for his work with CareWest community transport.

The community event was the Blayney Hay Bale Art Challenge.
