NSW Rural Fire Service Inspector Mick Holland has assured the fire – located about 20 kilometres north-east of Orange and covering 251 hectares – has been contained.
The bushfire emergency status was removed for the fire on Friday and scaled back to patrol status, seeing brigades remain in the area to monitor conditions.
“We had quite a bit of rain on the fire ground on Friday, which certainly helped,” Inspector Holland said.
Brigades from across the Central West were called in last week but the number of firefighters in the area has been reduced now that the alert level is lower.
Inspector Holland said that although there has been rain and cooler conditions recently, there is still potential for fire if people don’t exercise caution.
“They need to be careful when they are welding, using machinery or have campfires,” he said.
