The Vics had beaten Giumelli’s NSW side in the corresponding field hockey decider, so Sunday’s 4-2 victory in Sunday’s final proved particularly satisfying for the Orange gun.
NSW went through the competition undefeated, a 2-2 draw against Victoria in the early stages was the only game the sky blues didn’t taste victory in.
In the decider NSW opened the scoring before Victoria hit back to make it 1-1, but Ryan Taggert put the sky blues back in front on the stroke of half-time though.
Victoria equalised just after the break, before NSW slotted two more in the second half to win 4-2 and spark wild celebrations.
Giumelli was superb for the entire tournament, finding the back of the net twice during the preliminary rounds.
He scored in NSW’s win over Queensland (9-0) and in the draw against Victoria.
