Clothes, sheets and toys have been rendered unusable after bags were torn open and the donations strewn over McNamara Street on Sunday night.
St Vincent de Paul Centre Chair Patricia Mannix said donation bins were regularly emptied but they could not monitor donations delivered outside shop hours.
“We beg you not to leave the donations when the shop is not operating.”
Mrs Mannix said security cameras were operating around the building and staff would review the footage to see if the incident had been captured on video.
She said staff did not have time to wash or repair the damaged items.
“There’s a lovely red coat there. It’s been dragged all over the road,” she said.
The shop is open from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12pm on Saturday.
