In addition to raising more than $400 at their garage sale on Saturday, volunteers received one of their whipper snippers back after a neighbour found it hidden nearby.
Funds raised will go towards replacing the other two whipper snippers if they are not returned.
Pay It Forward founder Karlie Irwin said the volunteers’ main concern was “keeping the charity and program going”. “There’s a few people coming into the charity and just taking what they like,” Ms Irwin said.
“Those are the things that you have to try to move past and realise you’re still trying to provide a wider service to the wider community.” Despite the challenges, Ms Irwin said she wanted people who are in need to feel welcome.
“It’s all about removing the stigma of embarrassment for people in need,” she said.
