The premier ground in country NSW, Wade Park has been out of use since it copped a lashing from the rain on Group 10 grand final day two months ago.
In a bid to nurse the ground back to full use ahead of December’s Big Bash clash between the Sydney Thunder and Hong Kong, council has been cautious in its preparation of the ground, with Friday night’s Royal Hotel Cup clash between Kinross and the returning Lithgow Lightning the first action the venue has played host to since September 18.
The Lightning hasn’t played in the Royal Hotel Cup since the 2014-15 season.
And in that campaign, they started with a bang courtesy of an eight-wicket thrashing of a handy Twenty20 side in the form of Blayney.
Their opposition on Friday night, Kinross will be on a high having knocked off Orange District Cricket Association big guns Orange City, and having produced arguably their best cricket in the short forms of the game, Andrew Litchfield’s XI will be primed to continue their strong start to the 2016-17 season.
Kinross battled in last year’s Royal Hotel Cup, but made a charge to the competition’s semi-finals the summer prior to that, ultimately losing to CYMS in the semi-finals – the green and golds went on to win the tournament.
The second Royal Hotel Cup clash after Centrals edged Blayney on Sunday, Friday’s game begins at 7.30pm at Wade Park.
