Following a strong outing in division three last season, Orange finished third in the championship’s division two last weekend in Goulburn.
Orange defeated Wagga (7-5), Metro South (7-5), hosts Goulburn (6-2) and then Nepean (8-3) before a final game loss to Lithgow, 5-3.
Finishing second in their pool, Orange lined up against pool A toppers Sydney East in the crossover semi-finals, where the final 2-all result meant Orange was bundled out of the championship.
Everyone stuck to their own jobs and with that being said worked as a unit
- Adam Hurford
Orange hockey veteran Adam Hurford said the signs were positive as his open’s outfit continues to find its feet at the indoor titles.
He said Luke Skelton, Alex Said and Nic Milne were the stand-outs, with the latter Orange’s leading goal-scorer throughout the tournament.
“As the weekend came we were nervous about the way we would all go due to not having to many training runs under our belts,” Hurford said.
“But everyone stuck to their own jobs and with that being said worked as a unit.
“Nic Milne was always going to be a stand out … but Adam Skelton and Connor Morris played the most consistent all weekend.
“Mitch Venard not being allowed to play due to injury was a bit of a blessing in disguise, he was a massive help on the sidelines as our stand-in coach.”
