The penalty handed down to Beau Dinsdale in Orange Local Court on Monday extended his existing driving ban.
Police said his licence had previously been disqualified for one year in Orange Local Court on April 11.
However, at 2.15pm on Friday, August 27, police saw Dinsdale driving a white Holden ute west along Adina Crescent.
Police stopped him and a check of the Roads and Maritime Services system revealed he was disqualified from driving so he was arrested.
Representing Legal Aid, solicitor Prue Hawkes said Dinsdale had his licence suspended in 2015 for speeding offences.
Driver’s ban extended
Charlie Latu was issued a nine month suspended jail sentence in Orange Local Court on Monday for his second offence of driving during a disqualification period.
The 28-year-old Garema Road resident was also disqualified from driving for an additional two years and was ordered to have his fingerprints and photo identification recorded by police.
Latu was caught driving a white Holden Commodore east along Maxwell Avenue at 9.06pm on August 22 after police noticed one of the front driving lights was not working.
Police said Latu said he was getting the light fixed the following day once he got paid.
Before he appeared in court, police said he had his learner licence disqualified in 2015 and he was not eligible to apply for a new licence until 2020.
Latu was represented by solicitor Neil Jones in court.
“He informs me that at the time of the offence he had been out with his wife, his wife was feeling ill and unable to drive so he made a bad decision to drive,” Mr Jones said.
Fines for breaking fence
Catania Street resident Jacob William Ayres was fined in Orange Local Court on Monday for damaging a fence in Lords Place while he was drunk on August 11.
The 21-year-old was fined $300 for damaging the wooden paling fence, $300 for offensive behaviour and was ordered to pay $50 compensation for repairs to the fence.
He and a friend were seen kicking the fence and swore at police.
