The future of Mr Halliman’s 200 acre property Glen Abbey, which is home to more than 300 greyhounds and employs six staff members (including his sons), is now uncertain.
Mr Halliman said he was devastated by news of the upcoming ban on greyhound racing in NSW and said he “might as well go down fighting”.
“I’m really angry with the way we’ve been treated,” he said.
“It breaks your heart to think you’ve got 12 months of racing left. They can’t compensate me, they’ve taken my income away for the rest of my life.”
Mr Halliman said industry reforms including inspections were a better solution than a ban. “Our rules are in place and if people break them, let the law get them but don’t shut the industry down” he said.
