The East to West Coast Rodeo Championships will swing into action on October 15 at the Orange Showground with bull-riding, saddle bronc and bareback riding.
More than 4000 people attended last year’s event and organisers are hoping to see more this year.
Organiser Al Wilson described the action as “bone-crunching, family entertainment” and said rodeo riders were underestimated as athletes.
“Professional cowboys are not recognised for the talents they have,” he said.
“Imagine one tonne of bull that moves like a jungle cat, you must hold on with one hand, staying on for eight seconds without using your free hand.
“It’s so exciting. When you get up close you can feel the atmosphere.”
Tickets will be available on the gate, with the evening’s entertainment and junior competitions beginning at 5pm before the main event starts at 7pm.
