The 18-14 loss was only the second of the year for CYMS, who went through the entire home and away season undefeated.
Combined with their major semi-final defeat to Mudgee the week before, Sunday’s four-point loss bounces the minor premiership-winning CYMS out of the 2016 title race in straight sets.
After going into the sheds locked at 6-all a Toby Westcott try and conversion gave CYMS a 12-6 lead, then he kicked a penalty to make it 14-6 with 13 to go.
Workies stormed home though, scoring two late, converted tries to steal the win and grand final spot.
