Weighing into the November 12 byelection, RestofNSW chair Bob Wheeldon said Cr Munro’s previous experience on Orange City Council and his opposition to the greyhound industry ban made him an attractive prospect.
“He’s taken up the fight on that – standing up is not an easy thing to do, but he’s shown the courage,” he said.
“The best Labor will ever do is second – it’s a surprise The Nationals are letting themselves become a city party.”
Cr Munro said he was humbled by the support.
“For once this electorate has the opportunity to shape the opinions of the rest of the state,” he said.
Mr Wheeldon said volunteers and potential donations could be at Cr Munro’s disposal for the campaign.
“There’s a whole lot of people outside Orange interested in helping Scott,” he said.
