One of those fighters in Orange’s Jeremy Layton, who’ll be fighting out of 28Hundred Lifestyle and Fitness.
Layton will take on Marc Grayson, from Newcastle’s Brotherhood Training Centre, in the seventh bout on Saturday night’s bumper card, at 66kg – featherweight.
Layton’s in the final stages of his preparation, which includes the brutal phase of cutting weight in the days just prior the fight.
Everything you'd heard is true as well, that means eating almost nothing, flushing his body out with litres upon litres of water and the heavy use of hot baths and saunas to drop the excess kilograms.
He’s doing it for more than just a win in his debut fight though, he has another very special reason.
“I’m fighting to raise awareness (and funds) for Nakita ‘Skeet’ Morrison, who has recently suffered a stroke which has left her without her sight,” Layton said.
“Nakita also suffers form epilepsy and LGL heart syndrome, two conditions which are playing factors in her recovery. Her condition, treatments, ongoing medical costs and trips to Sydney have put an overwhelming strain on her family.
She went from being a free, independent, working and studying 19-year-old to now being fully reliant on her mum and two younger sisters.

“She went from being a free, independent, working and studying 19-year-old to now being fully reliant on her mum and two younger sisters.”
Layton implored anyone and everyone to help raise awareness or donate if they can, which he explained can be done via a GoFundMe campaign.
For more information people should search Skeets Fight 4 sight on Facebook, or visit https://www.gofundme.com/47w8uu44 to donate.
Promoter Paul Traish will be making a donation to the cause and has also pledged to donate $10 from each ticket purchased from 28Hundred.
Layton won’t be the only central west fighter in the octagon on Saturday night, Mudgee’s Joel Marshall and Brad Munro will take on James De Caux and Jason Stuart, respectively.
Bathurst’s Joel Noonan is also on the undercard, which leads up to Lithgow’s Mark Banks taking on Sydney’s Ivan Lazic for the MASA NSW featherweight title.
