Zinga was magnificent in Hawks’ attacking circle. Despite being marked by former Canberra Darter Mardi Aplin, Zinga nailed 38 goals from 42 attempts in Hawks’ 56-40 victory at a remarkable success rate of almost 91 per cent.
She wasn’t alone, her goal attack partner Kellie Watson was just as good, scoring Hawks’ other 18 goals and missing just twice. She shot at about 90 per cent as well.
Outside Zinga and Watson’s stunning showings, Hawks were clinical across the court and simply out-classed and out-paced their Life Studio counterparts, granted the latter side was far from its best on Saturday.
The two sides proved evenly matched in the opening quarter, feeling each other out and working their way into the game after a month-long break. The game was locked up at 11-11 at the first break.
Hawks took the lead in the second quarter though and never relinquished it.
They led 26-23 at half-time and then 37-30 at the final break, piling on 19 goals to Life Studio’s 10 in the final term.
The win keeps Hawks in third while the loss while Life Studio remain in fourth.
Robin Hood Craig Harvey Mechanical beat Kinross 1sts 36-34 in the most scintillating of Saturday afternoon’s games, while Life Studio Mid West Eyes trumped OHS High A (42-35).
