“I’ve been involved with greyhounds my entire life,” Coyte said.
“My father raced greyhounds, my grandfather raced them before that … I’m still in a bit of shock.
“We’d all heard the report was coming, but I don’t think anyone expected this.”
The 60-year-old was a vocal opponent of the removal of greyhound racing at Wade Park in 2005 as well, with Orange trainers racing at Bathurst in recent times.
Coyte said it will take some time for the decision to sink in and agreed trainers will now move interstate.
