ORANGE Cycle and Triathlon Club pulled curtains on their hugely successful 2015-16 season, which included regaining the Central West Inter-Club Triathlon Series shield, by handing out their major awards at last Friday presentation night.
“It was a really successful season and a great night,” OCTC president Michael Lockyer said.
“It was a great way to finish the season. We won back the shield which was a big focus of ours and will be again next season, we’ll also be putting more of a focus on the [SKODY Triathlon NSW Club Championships] next season.”
Connor Whiteley and Kim Dale won the respective male and female club champion trophies while Kinisha Roweth was awarded the champions trophy.
Kim Roweth was named clubperson of the year while Phil Tudor won the life members’ encouragement award and Jessie Dean and Ethan Buesnell won the girls’ and boys’ junior encouragement awards, respectively.
Kas Ingham and Dave Hunter claimed the female and male, respectively, most improved gongs, while the club also presented its age division award winners on the night.
The state club titles were held at the beginning of April and while the Piranhas had hoped for a huge turn-out Lockyer admitted to being slightly disappointed his club could only pull a 15-strong group together.
They performed with aplomb though to finish 12th out of 35.
“What it has done is given us a real taste,” Lockyer said.
“We’ll be back bigger and better next year. With a bigger group, we’re certainly looking at winning the award for best country club, which Central Coast won this year
