Organised each year by the conservatorium’s head of voice Samantha Bartholomeusz and choral master Ben Macpherson OAM the gala is the biggest choral event in the city each year and will have a diverse range of performances with singers ranging in age from four to 84.
Ms Bartholomeusz said each choir will perform songs from their repertoire in the first half including music by Australian composers, show tunes, jazz, folk and the children’s choir will sing children’s songs.
However, she said the Symphonic Choir will feature in the second half when they sing Vivaldi’s Gloria.
“All the choirs will be joining in parts of the Gloria,” Ms Bartholomeusz said.
“The Gloria goes for 25 minutes in 12 or 13 movements, it’s a fantastic piece and people would have definitely heard parts of it, the first part has been used in a few movies.
“For the audience having 120 voices on stage and the chamber orchestra, it will be a great experience.”
The concert will start at 5pm and will include an interval offering tea and coffee and supper at the end.
