The footage, captured from a dashboard-mounted camera of a vehicle, shows a taxi, followed by white utility in the left-hand lane stopping at the lights as they head east in Summer Street.
A shirtless Jarred Jensen, aged 23 from Bathurst, gets out of his vehicle armed with a baseball bat and walks to the vehicle ahead where he lashes out with the baseball bat several times at the driver's side window of the utility.
Police say the victim from Orange was a 22-year-old workmate of the Jensen's.
When the victim sees the attacker approaching he tries to manoeuvre away in to the right-hand lane and in the process hits the back of a taxi in front.
The taxi initially veers to the left before correcting and driving east alongside the damaged utility to escape the perpetrator, who is driving a blue sedan which turns left at the lights and heads north along Peisley Street.
Inspector Grassick told the Central Western Daily Jensen was arrested by police in February and subsequently pleaded guilty in court to charges of being armed with intent and malicious damage.
He will be sentenced in Orange Local Court on June 6.
